Delicate Raymond - Overview
Growing up on the beaches of Southern California and influenced by her artistic family, it´s no wonder Michelle Zimmerman makes jewelry that reflects her creative upbringing and world travels. Inspired by playing in the sand and gathering up sea creatures as a child, Michelle´s Delicate Raymond latest collection features beachy pieces containing vintage shells and genuine coral. Delicate Raymond is named after Michelle´s beloved grandfather Raymond, a noted Pacific Northwest lapidary artist and gemologist. Her hippie jewelry-making mother and a watercolor artist uncle encouraged Michelle to follow in their creative footsteps, and she began designing jewelry as a child. An avid world traveler who currently resides in Los Angeles, Michelle has lived in Paris, Cairo and Casablanca.
Michelle´s delicate, charming pieces have graced the necks of Hollywood´s elite, including Marcia Cross, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Elisha Cuthbert, Blythe Danner, Sophia Bush and many more. Her styles include reworked vintage jewelry, pearls, coral, turquoise, and hand-faceted semi-precious stones. A few of Delicate Raymond’s pieces are a throwback to the 1920s luxe era, when everything was glamorous yet refined. Photographs of her grandmother riding a motorcycle in 1960s London were Michelle´s muse for her Spring 2007 pieces. The collection features London mod, motorcycles, peace " love, rock n roll, Paris, "traveling vagabond", and Bohemian themes. She recently added silver to the Delicate Raymond collection, in addition to her 14 karat gold pieces. There are plans to expand into jewel-encrusted footwear and a mens jewelry collection.
A designer and an entrepreneur, Michelle created the successful Melrose Co-Op in 2005, a weekly indie designer sale event on Melrose Avenue, with a mission to expose up and coming designers to shoppers. She now devotes her time to Delicate Raymond and other entrepreneurial pursuits in the works. She regularly participates in top notch events, including LA Fashion Week, The Oscars, The Golden Globes and Shecky´s Girls Night Out in NYC.
Reflective of her genuine and giving spirit, Michelle sets aside a portion of her profits for charities, including Much Love Animal Rescue and the Multiple Myeloma Foundation. Delicate Raymond is available at fine boutiques nationwide, including Intuition in Los Angeles and Charlotte Ronson in New York City, and online at .www.delicateraymond.com.
